But no rat...yet!
No, today was a nation-wide bandha and so I figured the two people who come and help out around the house and yard would not be coming today. So I started working on making the dog food and ironing. However they both showed up! It was a blessing! And I feel like I can go on my training session now with a clean place to come back to.
I will be leaving at 6 AM tomorrow to go to Tansen to do a training session for our EQUIP schools. Just pray that it all goes well: the travel, the presentation, and meeting up with friends. My stomach has been fighting a nasty bug and I am not keen on the seven hour+ bus ride. Plus another surprise, I heard we are only gettingthe bus to Butwal, then getting a jeep from there up to Tansen, which is a three hour ride on a good day! I have done this trip before, but in a private car, and so I have an idea of what to expect, but this is Nepal and really one should never go on expectations! I will be presenting on Tuesday and then catching the bus back on Wednesday morning.
So more news when I return!

The Gilded Cage
So the stage is set for the main event. There is peanut butter as bait and the door is triggered. Now the audience is waiting for the sudden clap and the high-pitched squealing to begin.
Then we'll figure out what to do with it from there. I am hoping that the cage is actually big enough for the leading character.

Rat Fink
Yes, I am still looking for a better rat trap! I actually moved to one of the upstairs rooms, because I did not want to share a room with a rat. Still thought I hear it shuffling around the room last night.
So hopefully today I can get a real rat trap...learned the Nepali word yesterday, so I could buy one..and get that thing out of the house. It must be about 6 inches long in just the body! Shiver.

I have seen the RAT!
Today whilr I was eating breakfast, a rat ran between the fridge and the dish cupboard! I jumped. When I moved into this place had been tales of a rat, but all the "rat traps' never caught anything. So I guess I need to find a better rat trap!
Since killing anything in this culture is grievous, they only sell these trays that you smear a glue on and then put food in the middle of, with the idea that the critter steps onto the tray to get the food and glues itself to the tray. You are then suppose to pick up this tray and carry the critter outside and some how release it to the wild. ( Not sure how you are suppose to get the critter off the plate, but anyways...)
All I know is that I want it gone!

Spring Break
It's Spring break and I am enjoying getting lots of work done at school in total silence. It does help me concentrate. I have an EQUIP trip planned in the middle of the two weeks, but otherwise I just leisurely head into the office and work a couple hours before strolling around the hood doing errands, then head home to feed the dog and read a book, if there is power.
Spring Breaks are nice!

Quiet Corner of KTM
Went on a field trip with Year 9 last week. We went to the Cultural Museum. I mostly went to snap photos. I have been here before, so I wandered a bit more this time. Ended up ducking through a small door and coming out on a balcony that overlooked this small garden with a statue commemorating Hillary and Norgay's ascent of Everest. It was just tucked away in the corner of the museum. So I took a photo. Not sure who the bust is of, on the left.
