April is Whizzing By!

So it is the end of April. I have been on a two week Easter break.
At the beginning of the break, I flew down to Singapore for 10 days. It was a much needed break and I am thankful for encouraging friends, air con, cribbage, and meat. One of the highlights of my trip was returning to the school I worked at a number of years ago and teach the elementary chapels! I love talking about the Word of God!

Training teachers

After a break from the load shedding, water shortages, and stresses of work, I returned to KTM early to help with a teacher training day at one of the local schools. It was a good time and I had a great partner to work with. While the trainings do drain me, I enjoy them so much! I pray that the new teachers start the new school year well and a bit more prepared.

On Friday, I worked at school. I will be finishing the school year as the head of the elementary. So I wanted to get a semblance of order and agendas in line, so at least the first week runs smoothly. I will still be fulfilling the roles of Academic Director, US History Teacher, Sub, Admissions Test giver, and general Filler. So prayers are needed.

Holi Festival

Today is the celebration of the Hindu Festival of Color. It's called Holi. Its part of the celebration of the arrival of Spring. Gangs of festival participants wander around the streets with colorful tika powder and water balloons at the ready forattacking and splashing other passerbyers. Children, adults and even animals are fair game. The kids in my neighborhood are have a huge water fight right now with other neighbors. It has lasted for two hours so far and as wandering gangs come through the hood, they engage in a short, intense water fights and drive off the rivals.

Its been an exciting morning and I have had a good view of the road and all the action in the hood. However , as you have noticed, its from the safety of my house I took pictures. I have no desire to have tika powder in my ears for the next couple weeks!

Praying for a Friend

The other day, I stopped in to see some friends of mine who were in town. Hilary had been in the country teaching when she had to have a emergency medical procedure. Her husband, Arthur had to catch a quick flight from England to be by her side. The operation went well and after being bedridden for a week, she was up and about. So I stopped in to see her before they flew back home and snapped a photo. I heard that they had a doctor on the flight with them, plus oxygen on the way home. Then within 24 hours of getting home, she was back in the hospital with more systoms. So please be praying for them both as they adjust and recover from all the excitement. It is truly a blessing to know the people that God calls to his service and to watch how He orchestras everything for His glory!

Another Trip Up the Valley Wall

In the month of February, a couple friends and I made it a weekly event to get out of our bubble and get out into the community. On the last weekend of Feb. we planned to go out to a village about an hour out of the valley, but were stopped by an accident on the road. So we turned around, wandered a bit, trying to figure out what to do and decided to visit a World Heritage Site called Changnarayan. Its one of the older temples that sits up on the valley ridge. It was a rather overcast day, but the company and the photos ops were great! Here are a couple photos.
