The Drama Night was a huge success and everyone had a great time.  The winning drama was a very moving rendition of the gospel message set only to music. I had seen it three times  and cried every time. 

There were four dramas and then a dramatic reading of a Dr. Seuss story.   It was a great night!

Nepal Chapel

The importance of community was displayed in a number of the last week assemblies, through the telling of the story, Stone Soup.  The primary teaching assistants acted out a Nepali version of this well know story about an old man who cooks a pot of stone soup to teach some selfish villagers the important of building community through the act of sharing. As each of the villagers interacts with the old man, they are amazed that he is willing to share his soup with them. This simple act of sharing brings a response and the villagers end up donating some of their vegetables, which they have been hoarding for themselves.  As the end of the story, everyone in the village enjoys a bowl of soup and much laughter. The old man sneaks away to the next village to share his soup and this important message.

Dragon Training Grad Day!

Last week, the students had their final exam to graduate from Hiccups Dragon Training School. It was quite exciting as they had to complete four different stages and get a high score. (Of course all the diplomas were pre-made, signed, and laminated - so I guess no one was going to fail). Here are a couple photos.

Drama, Drama, Drama!

No, not in my life per se, but on stage.  Wednesday night is the drama competition at school. There are four dramas and one dramatic reading. I am part of the dramatic reading group. I roped the leadership team into doing a dramatic reading of the Big Brag by Dr. Seuss. I will be performing the role of narrator.  To make it more play like we are doing the story with shadow puppets. It was quite a set up at dress rehearsal night last week, as it was the first time we had done anything, besides read the script. But glad I pushed them to do it, as we are the only staff group.  We, of course, have decided to only perform for entertainment value and not as part of the competition. We need to give the kids a fighting chance! :) 

Comtemplating Escape

So out at the coffee plantation, the other day, there were these chickens in a concrete box. This was their only window to the outside world. One was quite interested in the construction happening right in front of him, which was this well that was being cemented.  So even if he did escape the box, he would have had to get over the well too. I think he was still contemplating it though.  I would have been too.

Out of the Valley

There is just something so freeing about getting out of the valley on the weekends.
Friends came to church and then a group of us journeyed out the Dokari Road to a coffee plantation and cafe.  It was a great drive and there were lots of laughs in the car!  I am not a connoisseur of coffee, so I just had white coffee and let the others discuss all the other things regarding the bean. One of the guys we went with works at a coffee place in WA, so he was quite interested in the roasting and grinding processes. They had a tour of the plantation while I sat and enjoyed the view.
  
On the way back, we got stuck in a jam due to an accident. One of the benifits of just rolling forward is that you get to see the scenery more and watch people.

Once in the city we were headed up the back roads and got stopped by police. There was a festival going on up the road, so all traffic was being diverted. A couple of us got out because we were going a different way and we had to squeeze our way through the crowds. But I was able to get one shot of the procession.

All in all it was a great day! I need more of those.

Update: Peanut Butter and Chocolate

So I found this recipe that I wanted to make, the only issue is that it has wheat in it so I can't eat it!
I went ahead and made some anyways and might share it with the staff today at the social/staff meeting.
It is very simple - just crush up a bag of oreo cookies (any flavor will do) and mix them into a jar of PB! Now why didn't I think of that? Probably because I can't eat it.   It would be a great dip for apples.
I do like trying new recipes, just wish I could eat some. I wonder how maple syrup and PB would taste on a rice cake? Hmmmm!
