Last night I attended a concert. The purpose of the concert was two-fold: to praise God and to raise money for the EQUIP program, a sister organization of KISC. EQUIP's purpose is to help in the training of national teachers and the building up of christian schools across the country. All the money raised last night went to providing scholarship money for Nepali students who could not afford an education otherwise.
One of the testimonies was of a man, who as a student could not even afford the five rupees it cost to go to school. With tears in his eyes he talked about the disappointment he had felt. But his next sentence was one of praise, because he realized had he not walked through that pain, he would not have had the passion today to be an champion for those children growing up like he did. In fact, he is now the head of the EQUIP program and oversees the training of teachers in a number of schools scattered across Nepal.
Another story that came out of this event was of a woman who went trekking and ended up in a very remote village. The tribal people approached her with a request. Among the village there were a number of children whose parents had been killed in the war or sold off into human trafficking schemes. The village had divided many of the children out among the village families, but there were still children left that the village could not support. Would she please take the leftover kids? The woman said sure and walked out of the village with 51 children! They eventually made it to an orphanage and were welcomed. But getting them all into the local school was a challenge. These children only spoke a tribal language and therefore didn't know Nepali, plus the local families were none to happy about all the "village rags" in the school. So EQUIP came in and sponsored a number of the students which helped reduce the load. (Eventually the orphanage, due to the sheer numbers taken in, had to open it's own school and I'm glad to report is doing well).
It was a good concert and though it was not planned, the theme that God wove through the songs and monologues was that God is our advocate and we need to be an advocate for His children. It was very touching and I praise God that He continues to champion those who are poor, humble, and destitute. If After the concert I realized that Christ and his actions on the cross paid for my sin. How can I do any less?

Wow. Amazing how the Lord works isn't it.
