The other night, a group of us were talking about arriving in new country horror stories. One of the people in the group mentioned that when they arrived in Nepal, a young girl, arriving at the same time, fainted. The Nepalis standing around immediately started calling out, "Take off her shoes! Take off her shoes!" A bit bewildered by this all the new arrivals were not sure what to do. The person telling the story finished with, "To this day, I am not sure why one would take the shoes off of a person who fainted?" A Nepali in the group replied, "So that they could wake the fainted person up with the smell of their own shoe odor."
